AMERICAN BOOKBINDERS MUSEUM

THE BOOK IS THE PROTAGONIST

The machines, tools and curators of the American Bookbinders Museum tell an extraordinary story. But they all revolve around one remarkable object: the book. An object created to capture an idea, give it physical form, and allow it to travel across distance, generations and time. The series explores how the book was made, how it evolved, and how profoundly it has shaped the human experience. Before the screen, there was the page. And before information could go viral, someone had to bind it.

The assignment was to create a tablet-guided tour of the museum. We created a series of short, podcast-style videos that guide visitors through the exhibits. Each episode begins with a pivotal period of invention in the history of the book, then expands outward to explore how those innovations changed people, culture and society. Together, the films transform a walk through the museum into a larger story: how making the book helped make the modern world.
